Magnesium

Cofactor in more than 300 enzymes.

Magnesium is an essential mineral fundamental to over 300 enzymatic reactions within the body. It plays a critical role in nerve and muscle function, blood glucose control, blood pressure regulation, and the synthesis of protein, bone, and DNA. Approximately 50-60% of the body's magnesium resides in bone, while most of the remaining amount is found in soft tissues. Only about 1% is present in the blood, yet this small fraction is tightly regulated and routinely measured to assess magnesium status.
