Fructose intolerance

Breath test.

Fructose intolerance, or dietary fructose intolerance (DFI), is a digestive condition where the small intestine has difficulty absorbing fructose, a natural sugar found in fruits, vegetables, and many processed foods. When unabsorbed fructose reaches the large intestine, it is fermented by bacteria, producing gases like hydrogen. The hydrogen breath test measures the amount of hydrogen in your breath after consuming a controlled dose of fructose, providing an indication of how well your body processes this sugar.
