Progesterone

Progesterone is a steroid hormone primarily produced in the ovaries, adrenal glands, and, during pregnancy, by the placenta. It plays a crucial role in the menstrual cycle, preparing the uterus for potential pregnancy by thickening the uterine lining. If pregnancy occurs, progesterone helps maintain the pregnancy by preventing uterine contractions. It is also involved in breast development and can influence mood and other physiological processes.
