Hepatitis B

HBV serology markers.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver, potentially leading to chronic disease and severe complications such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. The virus is transmitted through contact with infected blood or other bodily fluids. Various serological markers are used to detect current or past infection, assess infectivity, and monitor the course of the disease and response to treatment. These markers include Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), surface antibody (anti-HBs), core antibody (anti-HBc), and Hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg) and e-antibody (anti-HBe).
