GlycA

Chronic low-grade inflammation.

Glycoprotein acetyls (GlycA) is a composite biomarker measured by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. It reflects the overall concentration of several acute-phase proteins, primarily alpha-1-acid glycoprotein, haptoglobin, alpha-1-antitrypsin, and transferrin. These proteins are involved in the body's inflammatory response to various stimuli, including infection, tissue damage, and chronic disease processes. Instead of measuring individual inflammatory markers, GlycA provides a systemic view of inflammatory activity, offering insights into metabolic and cardiovascular health.
