FSH

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a gonadotropin produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. In females, FSH stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, playing a crucial role in the menstrual cycle and ovulation. In males, FSH promotes spermatogenesis by acting on Sertoli cells in the testes. Its regulation involves a feedback loop with gonadal hormones. Measuring FSH levels provides insights into reproductive function and pituitary-gonadal axis health in both sexes.
